Ondo Security Forces Arrest 95 Suspects, Stop Kidnappings

Communities across Ondo State, Nigeria are breathing easier after security forces arrested 95 suspected criminals and foiled multiple kidnapping attempts through coordinated operations.

The Ondo State security agency Amotekun led the operation alongside the Nigeria Police, Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies. Their combined effort focused on areas that had experienced increased criminal activity in recent months.

Amotekun Commander Chief Adetunji Adeleye reported that 12 suspects were arrested for kidnapping-related offenses across multiple locations. Security forces discovered them through intelligence gathered from community members who reported suspicious activity.

The operation succeeded partly because locals partnered with security personnel. Community monitors and vigilante groups provided crucial information that helped authorities act quickly.

In the Ilu-Abo area of Akure North, which had seen several kidnapping incidents, security forces established two permanent posts in nearby forests. Officers now patrol major roads regularly, creating a visible security presence.

These measures have already made a difference. Joint security teams successfully prevented five kidnapping attempts in that area alone through rapid response and community cooperation.

The operation also addressed other criminal activities. Authorities arrested 19 people for breaching public order, three for anti-grazing violations, and others for armed robbery and theft.

This coordinated approach demonstrates how communities become safer when residents and security agencies work together. The multi-agency cooperation brought different resources and expertise to tackle crime from multiple angles.
