Palisades Village Reopens 19 Months After Devastating Fire

Nineteen months after wildfire devastated Pacific Palisades, the community is celebrating its first major victory: Palisades Village is reopening.

The 100,000-square-foot shopping and dining destination opens August 15 with ribbon-cutting ceremonies, family activities, and entertainment. While the fire destroyed more than 5,000 homes and displaced tens of thousands of residents, the Village largely survived but needed extensive smoke remediation and rebuilding.

Developer Rick Caruso invested $100 million to restore the property, taking everything down to the studs and having environmental engineers test for toxins. "The way we reopen is a sign throughout the city that's suffering in so many ways that we actually are resilient," Caruso said during a property tour.

About 60% of original tenants are returning, including the Netflix-run Bay Theatre and Jennifer Meyer Jewelry. New arrivals include a restaurant from award-winning chef Timothy Hollingsworth and an Italian chophouse from Nancy Silverton.

For residents who lost everything, the reopening brings much-needed normalcy. One Hollywood composer who lost his home told Fox News Digital the reopening "will definitely help to just get some momentum where people will feel hopeful and that we're getting back to normal."

The Ripple Effect

City Council member Traci Park calls this reopening one of the biggest developments for spurring overall recovery in the Palisades. The Village provides more than shopping and dining. It gives displaced residents a place to gather and reconnect as they rebuild their lives.

"We have been really excited to celebrate the return of every school, every business, every new home breaking ground across the Palisades," Park said. The reopening signals to the entire city that recovery is possible, even after catastrophic loss.

Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin emphasized what the moment represents. "This is about more than reopening stores and restaurants, it's about restoring a place where neighbors can reconnect, families can gather, and a community can begin to feel whole again."

While challenges remain, including the need for grocery stores and other basic services in the surrounding area, Palisades Village's return marks a powerful first step toward healing for a community that refused to give up.
