Folashade Oluwafemiayo, a four-time world champion and two-time Paralympic gold medalist, will lead Team Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games running July 23 to August 2 in Glasgow, Scotland. "Folashade Oluwafemiayo is the ideal choice, having consistently demonstrated exceptional professionalism, resilience, and excellence throughout her distinguished career," said NSC Director General Bukola Olopade. Her appointment was merit-based, rewarding years of breaking records and winning championships.

Oluwafemiayo's trophy case tells the story of dedication. At the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, she lifted a world record 152.5 kilograms on her way to gold. She followed that with another gold medal at Birmingham's 2022 Commonwealth Games in the heavyweight category.

The powerlifter has accumulated multiple Paralympic, World Championship, and Commonwealth titles while setting world records across her career. Her winning mentality and leadership qualities make her an inspiration to every member of Team Nigeria, according to Olopade.
