"We encourage all work groups, friend groups, book clubs, businesses, and families to pick a project and come serve," says organizer Karen Marriott. "It's a chance to meet your neighbors, support local causes, and give back to the community where we live, work and play."
The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with free breakfast for volunteers, followed by a ceremony honoring those lost on September 11, 2001. One of the community's first responders will speak about service, and the Park City Police Department will perform a "Last Call" ceremony alongside bagpipes and Taps.
At 9 a.m., volunteers spread across town to tackle everything from graffiti removal with Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History to fence building with Habitat for Humanity. For those seeking gentler projects, letter writing, sorting eyeglasses, and quilting opportunities are available at the Blair Education Center.
This year's website color-codes all 44 projects to show which ones welcome kids and which require physical labor. The expansion shows how last year's 900 volunteers and 27 projects sparked something bigger.
