Pensacola Catholic Girls Soccer Reaches Final Four

Pensacola Catholic's girls soccer team just proved that patience and persistence pay off in the sweetest way possible.

One year after South Walton ended their season in the regional final, the Crusaders got their revenge on February 13, winning 1-0 on the Seahawks' home field. The victory sends Pensacola Catholic to the state Final Four for the first time in 13 years.

Adelyn Carpenter scored the game's only goal in the second half, but the real story belongs to the defense. Goalkeeper Lily Rodriguez made six saves while centerbacks Cate Carlson and Caroline Trajano kept South Walton from finding the net.

The defensive dominance isn't new for this team. Pensacola Catholic hasn't allowed a goal in any of their six postseason games and has recorded eight straight shutouts heading into the Final Four.

This was actually the third time the Crusaders beat South Walton this season, defeating them 2-0 twice before. But this win meant something different because of what happened last year.
