Pest Control Company Launches $1K Legacy Scholarship

Starting October 1, high school seniors and college students can apply for a new $1,000 annual scholarship designed to support the next generation of pest management professionals.

Abell Pest Control, a family-run company with over 100 years of history, created the Legacy Scholarship through the Pest Management Foundation. CEO Liz Abell says the award reflects their commitment to investing in people who share the company's values of integrity, empathy, reliability, innovation, and community service.

The scholarship welcomes students from across the United States and Canada who maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. While preference goes to those pursuing pest management or related fields like environmental science, urban entomology, public health, and sustainability, students in business operations and technology programs can also apply.

Applicants need to submit their transcript, resume, a one-page essay about their professional goals, and at least one letter of recommendation. The scholarship especially encourages students from families already working in pest management or those in states where Abell operates, including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and Florida.

This scholarship does more than help one student pay tuition. It recognizes an often-overlooked industry that protects public health, food safety, and the environment every single day.

By supporting education in fields like rodentology, biological sciences, and hospitality management, the award opens doors for students who might not have considered these career paths. Winners will also connect with Abell leaders to share their journey, creating mentorship opportunities that extend beyond the financial award.
