Pet Brand Partners with Arbor Day to Plant Trees Nationwide

A veterinarian-founded pet supplement company is tackling climate change one tree at a time through a new partnership that connects pet care with planetary care.

Fera Pets announced this week it's teaming up with the Arbor Day Foundation to fund tree planting projects across the country. The initiative focuses on two key areas: restoring damaged ecosystems and expanding tree canopy in underserved neighborhoods where shade and clean air are scarce.

The Arbor Day Foundation, which has spent over 50 years helping communities plant and protect trees, will lead the work through its network of verified local planting partners. Each tree planted will help filter air and water, support wildlife, and strengthen the communities that depend on healthy forests.

Dr. Michelle Dulake, the veterinarian who founded Fera Pets, sees the connection between pet health and environmental health as inseparable. "Caring for our pets also means caring for the planet they live on," she explained.

The partnership reflects Fera Pets' broader environmental commitments, which already include tracking emissions and maintaining plastic neutrality. Now the company is extending that responsibility beyond its products to support long-term ecosystem restoration.

The Ripple Effect

Trees do more than just look pretty. They're climate warriors that absorb carbon dioxide, cool neighborhoods by up to 10 degrees, and provide homes for countless species. In urban areas where trees are sparse, residents face higher rates of heat-related illness and respiratory problems.

By focusing on areas that need trees most, this partnership addresses environmental justice while fighting climate change. Communities with fewer trees are often lower-income neighborhoods where residents have been historically underserved.

Dan Morrow, vice president of programs at the Arbor Day Foundation, emphasized the urgent need for forest restoration as climate challenges intensify. "Restoring forests can make a significant difference in our future," he said.

The partnership proves that companies of any size can take meaningful climate action, and that caring for animals and caring for the earth don't have to be separate missions.
