Punjab Doctor Treats Film Star, Gets Movie Role With Ranveer

When Dr. Sunny Ashok showed up to treat a film star's head injury, he never imagined he'd end up on screen alongside Ranveer Singh in one of India's biggest blockbusters.

Dr. Ashok, a medical officer at a government health facility in Kalakh village near Ludhiana, Punjab, received an urgent call on July 8, 2025. Actor Arjun Rampal had sustained a head injury during a high-intensity chase sequence on the set of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge.

"There was panic as it seemed Arjun would need scans and hospitalization," Dr. Ashok told Tribune. Fortunately, after checking reflexes and conducting a thorough examination, he confirmed the injury wasn't serious.

Days later, Dr. Ashok returned to the film set at Shahnewal Airport for another shooting schedule. He spotted Ranveer Singh and asked for a simple photo, a memento from an unusual week at work.

Ranveer's response changed everything. "Brother, why just a photo, we will take you in the movie," the star said, throwing his arm around the doctor's shoulder.

Dr. Ashok thought it was a friendly joke. But director Aditya Dhar stepped in and explained they needed someone to play a doctor treating Ranveer's injured character in a crucial scene.

The government doctor was cast on the spot. He filmed a scene where he examines Ranveer's character after an intense action sequence, behaving exactly as he would with any patient.

"Dhar congratulated me for acting natural, saying I never looked into the camera and behaved exactly as a doctor would," Dr. Ashok said. His authenticity turned a split-second cameo into something memorable.

The film's stars left an impression beyond the cameras. "All the film crew, and especially Ranveer and Arjun Rampal, were very down to earth and friendly," Dr. Ashok shared.

Back home in Pakhowal, the doctor became an instant celebrity. Friends spotted him in circulating clips, and the news spread rapidly through WhatsApp groups across the district.

Interestingly, this isn't the Ashok family's first brush with Bollywood royalty. Dr. Ashok's father shares a personal friendship with legendary actor Dharmendra and has several photos with the star.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has become a massive hit, collecting over Rs 900 crore worldwide. For Dr. Ashok, though, the real success story isn't measured in box office numbers but in the unexpected joy of saying yes to adventure.
