Punjab Village Gets Model Makeover for Freedom Fighter

A small village in Punjab is about to become a shining example of what honoring history while building the future looks like. Dhudike village in Moga district, the birthplace of freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, will be transformed into a fully developed model village with modern infrastructure delivered within the next year.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made the announcement Wednesday at the village's annual sports festival celebrating Lala Lajpat Rai's birth anniversary. He promised visible work on the ground, not just plans on paper like previous governments.

The upgrades include new sewerage lines, modernized playgrounds, pond rejuvenation, and essential infrastructure to improve living standards for residents. Mann pledged to return next year on the same date to show completed projects.

The announcement came during a traditional sports festival featuring kabaddi and hockey matches. Mann sat alongside villagers to watch the games, saying it gave him "immense satisfaction" to celebrate rural sports with the community.
