The game was a nail-biter from start to finish. Texas, playing as the No. 11 seed after starting their tournament run in the First Four, had tied the game at 77 just seconds earlier when Dailyn Swain made a clutch layup and converted the free throw with 11 seconds left.

But Purdue guard Braden Smith drove hard to the basket in the final seconds. His layup bounced off the rim, and that's when Kaufman-Renn made his move, positioning himself perfectly underneath to tip the ball home as time expired.

The shot capped an outstanding performance for Kaufman-Renn, who finished with 20 points. All five Purdue starters scored in double figures, with Fletcher Loyer adding 18 points and Smith contributing 16 in the winning effort.

Texas gave everything they had in what became a showcase of quality basketball. The Longhorns shot an impressive 52% from the field, led by Tramon Mark's stellar 29-point performance on 11-of-15 shooting, including five three-pointers.
