Rajasthan Fires 20 Officials in Major Corruption Crackdown

Rajasthan's state government just dismissed 20 officials and suspended 332 others as part of a major crackdown on corruption and administrative negligence. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made it clear that public service cannot be misused for personal gain or neglect of duty.

The sweep cut across multiple departments, catching officials from medical, education, mining, and public works sectors. Among those dismissed was a senior Rajasthan Administrative Service officer, sending a strong signal that no position is immune from accountability.

The government went even further by targeting retired officials who thought they had escaped consequences. Seventeen former personnel had their pensions stopped for past corruption and misconduct, proving that the arm of accountability reaches beyond active service.

Over 100 cases have received prosecution sanctions, meaning criminal charges could follow. Another 577 cases remain under investigation, suggesting this is just the beginning of a longer cleanup effort.
