Rapid City Needs Volunteers for July 1-5 Celebration

Rapid City is inviting its community to be part of something historic this July, and you don't need to commit your whole day to make it happen.

The city's Real America Birthday Bash runs July 1-5, and organizers still need volunteers to welcome visitors from across the Black Hills region and beyond. The best part? Most shifts are just two hours long, making it easy to help out and still catch the fireworks.

Volunteers can choose roles that match their interests and schedules. Options include helping with crowd management, serving as crossing guards, supporting entertainment and concerts, assisting with the Freedom 5K Run, guiding parade activities, greeting guests, managing event operations, or working in the Kids Zone with children.

"This is an opportunity for people of all ages to be part of a historic celebration while serving the community alongside friends, families and local organizations," said Amy Policky, coordinator of the America250 Birthday Bash Volunteer Committee. The America250 Volunteer Challenge welcomes individuals, businesses, churches and community groups to get involved.

The five-day celebration promises something for everyone. Attendees can watch a patriotic drone show light up the sky, join a community parade through downtown, enjoy a festival atmosphere with live entertainment and exhibits, attend a Mount Rushmore fireworks watch party, participate in the Freedom 5K Run, and bring kids to dedicated activity zones.

When volunteers step up for community events, they do more than check people in or direct traffic. They create the welcoming atmosphere that turns a series of activities into a shared memory for families and visitors alike.
