Razorback Alums Lead Utah Talons to Championship Series

Former Arkansas Razorbacks Bri Ellis and Kailey Wyckoff are proving their college success was just the beginning.

The dynamic duo helped lead the Utah Talons to a 16-9 regular season record and the number one overall seed in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League Championship Series. They defeated the Chicago Bandits 3-1 in their final regular season game, earning an automatic berth to the best-of-three championship in College Station, Texas.

Ellis has been a force at the plate in her second professional season. The 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year finished with a .353 batting average, five home runs, and ranks in the top 10 in multiple league categories including on-base percentage and slugging percentage.

Her Houston roots and championship experience are showing through when it matters most. Ellis has posted five multi-hit games and four multi-RBI performances while maintaining a .975 fielding percentage in the outfield.

Wyckoff's journey this season showcases her versatility and determination. After starting with the Florida Breeze, she joined the Talons through the reserve pool on June 14 and immediately made an impact with 12 hits and eight RBI across 20 games.

The Katy, Texas product has played four different positions this season, demonstrating the kind of adaptability that championship teams need. Her three multi-hit games have come at crucial moments for Utah's playoff push.

The Ripple Effect

These two aren't just winning games. They're representing the historic program that sent Arkansas to its first-ever Women's College World Series in 2026.

Their 47-13 season with the Razorbacks set program records and inspired the next generation of players. Now incoming freshmen Ava Hodo and Katie King, both MaxPreps High School All-Americans, will follow in their footsteps at Arkansas after leading their Alabama high school to six consecutive state championships.

The Talons begin their championship defense on Saturday at noon on ABC, with Ellis and Wyckoff chasing back-to-back AUSL titles. For two athletes who've already made history at Arkansas, adding another professional championship would be the perfect next chapter.
