RecipeTin Eats' Nagi Welcomes New Pup After Loss of Dozer

When you lose a dog who's been by your side for nearly 14 years, the silence in your kitchen feels unbearable. But for cookbook author Nagi Maehashi, founder of RecipeTin Eats, a chunky golden retriever puppy named Jaffle has brought joy back into her home.

Maehashi didn't expect to get another dog so soon after losing Dozer, her beloved golden retriever who spent years as her "chief taste tester" and appeared throughout her bestselling cookbooks. In February, she stepped away from her popular food blog to spend Dozer's final chapter with him, sharing the heartbreaking goodbye with millions of followers.

Then she learned that one of Dozer's canine friends had puppies. One "chunky chunderbum of a boy destined to be big and gold" stole her heart, and 48 hours after bringing him home, Jaffle had already wrapped himself around her paw.

"I'd much rather think of this as passing the baton to the next generation," Maehashi wrote on her blog. Training has already begun, and she's happy to report that Jaffle shows great promise, with an early passion for cheese and a healthy distaste for kale.
