Reliance to Create 200,000 Green Jobs in Energy Shift

One of the world's largest oil refiners just announced it will stop making traditional fuel and start making clean chemicals instead, creating 200,000 new jobs for everyday Indians.

Reliance Industries, India's biggest private company, shared its bold vision at its annual shareholder meeting in June 2026. Chairman Mukesh Ambani told investors the company will transform every drop of oil it refines into chemicals and advanced materials rather than traditional fuels.

The shift represents a complete reinvention of Reliance's oldest business. Instead of producing gasoline and diesel, the company will manufacture sustainable materials that power a cleaner economy.

The jobs created span across skills and backgrounds. Engineers, technicians, factory operators, construction workers, farmers, and entrepreneurs will all find work in the new green economy through Reliance's massive solar farm in Kutch and its integrated manufacturing complex.

Ambani emphasized that India offers partners a unique advantage with its large domestic market, global reach, and favorable business environment. The company is open to building integrated manufacturing sites both in India and internationally with global partners.

This transformation does more than create jobs. It tackles multiple challenges facing India and the world simultaneously.

The clean energy transition will reduce India's dependence on imported oil, saving billions of dollars annually. Lower energy costs will benefit every household and factory across the country, making Indian businesses more competitive globally.
