BougeRV DuneRover motorized wagon with large beach wheels hauling gear outdoors

Mind Blown

A tech reviewer expected to mock a motorized wagon with disco lights. Instead, he discovered a game-changing tool that hauls heavy loads up steep hills and through soft sand with minimal effort.

Thomas Ricker requested the BougeRV DuneRover wagon expecting a good laugh at another ridiculous gadget. What he got instead was a genuinely useful innovation that could change how families and outdoor enthusiasts transport gear.

The remote-controlled wagon might sound absurd, complete with LED light bars that flash by default. But this prototype proved its worth by hauling over 200 pounds of equipment up a 10 percent grade with just a fraction of the effort a regular wagon would require.

Two brushless motors power oversized beach wheels that glide through soft sand where traditional wagons get stuck. The handle contains an intuitive trigger that starts the motors when you pull and stops them when you release, even on steep inclines.

Ricker tested the DuneRover through six trips moving beach house gear along nearly four miles of varied terrain: soft sand, asphalt, wooden ramps, and gravel. After all that hauling, the battery still showed 74 percent charge remaining.

The wagon transforms to fit different needs. Unzip the sides completely and it becomes a flatbed cart for oversized items or even a senior dog. Loosen the straps while keeping sides attached and you create extra volume for bulkier loads.

The Bright Side

Sure, nobody technically needs a motorized wagon with animated lighting. But for families hauling coolers, umbrellas, toddlers, and beach toys through sand, or anyone regularly moving heavy gear up hills, this could eliminate real physical strain.

The early-bird Kickstarter price sits at $467, compared to an eventual $899 retail price. That's not outrageous considering quality conventional wagons run $300 to $800, and none of those offer motorized assistance.

Production units ship in February 2027, giving BougeRV time to fix the quirks Ricker found in his prototype. The LED lights defaulting to on needs changing, and occasional motor jerkiness on slopes requires smoothing out.

What started as a joke review turned into genuine appreciation for solving a real problem: making it easier to move heavy things from place to place without throwing out your back.
