When Frank Ozimek had just hours to live, the 67-year-old father of three had one final request: feed the hospice nurses who had cared for him with such compassion.
For six weeks, Ozimek received cancer treatment at Niagara Hospice in New York. When the treatments stopped working, he turned to his younger brother Ken with his last wish: to treat the nursing staff to a meal as thanks for their kindness.
Ken searched online for restaurants that could deliver on Easter Sunday. Every business was closed for the holiday.
Then he reached Tommy Milani, owner of Sub Delicious pizza and subs in Lockport. Without hesitation, Milani agreed to help.
"I said, 'Absolutely, whatever you need, Ken,'" Milani told local news WKBW. "They do an amazing job there. They're all saints."

Milani put his own Easter plans on hold. He fired up the ovens and prepared fresh pizzas for the entire nursing staff, then delivered them himself.
Ken said Milani's generosity meant everything to his family during their darkest hour. The gesture honored Frank's final act of gratitude and brought comfort when they needed it most.
Sunny's Take
This story captures something beautiful about human nature: even in our final moments, we think about giving back. Frank spent his last hours wanting to thank those who showed him kindness. Tommy responded by setting aside his own plans to make it happen.
The hospice nurses care for patients and families through the hardest times imaginable. Frank recognized that gift and wanted to acknowledge it. Tommy recognized it too, calling them "saints" for the work they do every day.
Ken hopes their story inspires others to spread joy and kindness in their own communities. "Why can't we do this and spread joy and kindness to each other?" he asked.
Frank Ozimek, who loved the outdoors and attended the Niagara Falls Blues Festival every year, is survived by his three children and five grandchildren. His final wish became a reminder that gratitude and generosity can shine even in the darkest moments.
