NEURA Robotics just announced plans to build 10 specialized training facilities across Europe, the US, and China where robots will practice real-world tasks. The company partnered with RWTH Aachen University in Germany to launch the first location, addressing a major challenge in robotics development.
Unlike language AI models that train on trillions of text examples, robots have access to far less real-world data. Simulations help, but they can't capture the friction, variability, and unpredictability of actual physical environments where robots need to work.
The NEURA Gyms solve this by combining physical training spaces with high-fidelity simulations. Companies can test and validate robots for specific tasks before full deployment, reducing risk and speeding up adoption timelines.
The German facilities showcase serious ambition. The Aachen location will span over 32,000 square feet at RWTH's Hightech Campus, while the Munich site will cover nearly 25,000 square feet and focus on testing fleets of humanoid robots in partnership with the Technical University of Munich.

NEURA expects five of the ten facilities to be operational by the end of 2026. A recent $1.4 billion Series C investment is funding the global network.
Each gym will share infrastructure through NEURA's open cloud platform called Neuraverse, but they'll specialize based on regional strengths and partner expertise. Academic researchers will bring scientific knowledge while corporate partners contribute industry-specific insights.
