Rock Springs Volunteers to Plant 50 Downtown Planters

Downtown Rock Springs, Wyoming is about to burst into color, and volunteers are making it possible.

The Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency is hosting a community planting day on May 27 at 10:30 a.m. More than 50 planters throughout downtown need to be filled with seasonal flowers, and organizers are counting on community members to help bring the vision to life.

Volunteers will meet at the Main Street office at 603 S Main Street to start the transformation. The group will unload flowers together, distribute them to planting locations around downtown, and get their hands dirty making the district bloom.

No special skills or equipment required. The organization will provide some gardening shovels and gloves, though volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools if they have them.

This annual tradition does more than just beautify downtown sidewalks. Board chairwoman Maria Mortensen says the volunteer effort has become a cornerstone moment that brings the community together each spring.
