Rockford Group Awards $1.25M Over 45 Years to Students

For 45 years, the Rockford Association for Minority Management has been quietly changing lives, one scholarship at a time.

The organization will celebrate its anniversary on February 27, 2026, at the Tebala Event Center in Rockford. Founded by business and civic leaders in 1981, RAMM set out with a simple but powerful mission: expand access to education for African American students in the region.

The numbers tell a story of steady commitment. Since its founding, RAMM has awarded more than $1.25 million in scholarships to local students pursuing higher education.

This year continues that tradition with 36 new scholarships. Five community college students will each receive $750, while 31 students heading to four-year colleges and universities will get $1,500 each.

The evening celebration runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and brings together an impressive group. Alumni who once received RAMM scholarships will gather alongside current scholars, corporate partners, community leaders, and supporters who make the work possible.
