Romania Celebrates 160 Years of Crown at Palace Gathering

More than 4,000 people from every corner of Romania and Moldova came together Sunday for a celebration that brought a nation's past and present into beautiful harmony.

Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown, hosted the Garden Party at Elisabeta Palace to mark 160 years since the founding of the Royal House and the modern Romanian state. The milestone anniversary honored both Romania and the Republic of Moldova, recognizing their deep historical ties.

"We can celebrate this continuity, pride and unity," Margareta told the crowd gathered in the palace gardens. Her words captured the spirit of a day dedicated to bringing people together across borders and backgrounds.

The celebration drew an impressive cross-section of society. Government officials, diplomats, academics, artists, scientists, and athletes mingled in the relaxed atmosphere. After returning from exile, the Royal Family revived the tradition by hosting the Garden Party annually, reclaiming the date as a celebration of Romania's modern founding.
