Rugby World Cup Teams Coming to Colorado This July 4th

Independence Day in Colorado just got a whole lot more exciting for sports fans and families alike.

Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City will host the World Rugby Nations Cup on July 4th, featuring a doubleheader of international matches. Zimbabwe faces Tonga in the opener, followed by Team USA taking on Portugal in the evening's main event.

The games are part of 4thFEST, the city's free family festival that already draws thousands for Colorado's largest public fireworks display. This year, families can enjoy world-class international rugby before the night sky lights up.

Tickets go on pre-sale April 7th, with general sales starting April 9th at 10 a.m. The matches give American fans a rare chance to see their national team compete at home against top international competition.

"Consistent competition for our senior national teams continues to be a primary goal at USA Rugby," said USA Rugby CEO Bill Goren. The tournament features all 12 teams that qualified for the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup in Australia.

The 12 qualified teams will compete in two pools across July and November, using these matches as crucial preparation for the world stage. For the USA Eagles, home field advantage offers both competitive benefits and community support.
