Samford Men Win 6th Straight Track Title, WCU Women Triumph

Samford's men's track and field team just made history for the sixth year running, dominating the Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a commanding performance that showcased both athletic excellence and academic achievement.

The Bulldogs racked up 238.5 points to secure the title, led by Cole Grande, who earned Men's Most Outstanding Athlete honors. Grande won gold in the 400m, took silver in the 200m, and helped his team claim gold in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

But the wins didn't stop at the track. Samford's David Brown took home the Pinnacle Award for maintaining the highest GPA among all championship team athletes, proving that champions excel in the classroom too.

On the women's side, Western Carolina broke through with an inspiring championship victory, their first since 2018. The Catamounts scored 182.5 points, narrowly edging out Samford's women's team by just seven points in a thrilling finish.

Cymoria Thomas powered Western Carolina's historic win with a dominant 20-point performance, sweeping gold medals in both the 100m and 200m dashes. Her teammate Gaby Reeve matched the academic excellence on display, earning the women's Pinnacle Award for her outstanding GPA.
