Saudi Program Builds 12-Classroom School in Yemen's Taiz

Children in Taiz, Yemen, will soon have a brand new school to call their own, thanks to a development program that's quietly transforming education across the country.

The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen laid the foundation stone for a twelve-classroom facility this week. The school aims to provide quality education in a city where learning opportunities have been severely disrupted by conflict.

This isn't a standalone project. The new Taiz school joins an impressive network of 207 projects across seven vital sectors throughout Yemen, all focused on rebuilding what war has damaged.

Education has become a cornerstone of the program's work. The team has already completed 23 schools and is restoring Saba University, one of Yemen's key higher education institutions. They've also opened a center specifically designed for gifted students who need specialized support.

Getting kids into classrooms is just the first step. The program has distributed 548,852 textbooks to students across Yemen, ensuring that once children arrive at school, they have the materials they need to learn. They've also provided 26 buses to help students actually reach their schools, removing a major barrier for families in areas with limited transportation.
