Savannah Theater Brings Recovery Story to Stage

Savannah Repertory Theater brings The White Chip to the Vintage Theater starting April 16, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the path from addiction to recovery. The production runs two weekends through April 26 at 980 Industry Drive.

The play follows Steven McAlister, a man who insists he doesn't have a drinking problem even as his life crumbles around him. Actor Chad Darnell takes on the challenging lead role, bringing depth to Steven's journey from self-deception to acceptance.

Written by Sean Daniels, the story captures what more than 29 million Americans face each year when struggling with alcohol use disorder. The white chip referenced in the title represents the first step in recovery programs, a symbol of choosing sobriety for just 24 hours at a time.
