Schuylkill County Students Excel Across America

Nine students from Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, just proved that zip codes don't determine academic potential.

From earning a perfect 4.0 at Ohio University to landing on dean's lists across seven states, these young scholars are showing what dedication and hard work can achieve. Their accomplishments span diverse fields including data science, psychology, aviation maintenance, and communication.

Miley Klinger from Hegins achieved something remarkable at Ohio University this fall. She earned a spot on the President's List, which requires a perfect 4.0 GPA while carrying at least 12 credits. Only about 2,500 students out of Ohio's entire undergraduate population reached this milestone.

Scout Courreges traveled from Pottsville to the University of Mississippi, where the psychology major made the Chancellor's Honor Roll. Cian McLaughlin headed to Tampa, where the junior data science major maintained the 3.75 GPA needed for dean's list recognition at the University of Tampa.

Closer to home, students like Alyssa Kauffman at Kutztown University and Josh Dewald at the University of Rhode Island brought honors back to Pennsylvania. Calvin Shirey chose a specialized path at Saint Francis University, pursuing an aviation maintenance certificate while still earning dean's list recognition.
