His path to WWE stardom took the long road through independent wrestling circuits in Scotland, where he earned gold medals in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling before turning pro.

But the turning point in Hendry's mindset came from an unexpected place. When he earned his black belt in judo, something clicked. "I realized that for a lot of people, the difficult part is they get so close and just to push it over the line," he explained. "Sometimes you need to give yourself permission to win."

"To see him as undisputed WWE champion and for me to be NXT champion at the same time is an amazing feeling," Hendry said.

The wrestler who once competed in tiny Scottish venues now represents an entire brand. He calls it a responsibility he takes seriously, ready to deliver for fans who believed in him before he wore WWE gold.
