Senior Cat Coulis Seeks Forever Home After 13 Years

Coulis has mastered the art of the perfect cuddle, closing his eyes in complete relaxation the moment someone strokes his soft fur.

The senior cat found his first home through Animal Refuge Kansai 13 years ago. Now his owner has grown older and can no longer provide the care he needs, so Coulis is back at the shelter hoping for another shot at happiness.

His unusual name comes from a culinary term for a smooth fruit or vegetable sauce. True to his namesake, Coulis moves through life with quiet elegance, whether he's seeking affection or simply lounging around.

Shelter staff describe him as friendly and easygoing, though he carries himself with the independence that comes with age. He does what he wants, when he wants, moving with purpose and conviction.

"He often has a somewhat vacant look about him, as if he just dropped down from another planet," one staffer shared. "But he knows exactly which people to make a beeline to immediately."

The staffer added with a laugh that if Coulis were human, he'd probably be a fortune teller.

While his fur and skin look a bit ragged now after wearing a medical cone at his former home, his condition is expected to improve with proper care. At his age, what he needs most is patience, gentle hands, and a quiet place to call home.
