Seton Hall Esports Wins 2 Titles, All 5 Teams to Nationals

When all five of your teams make it to nationals, you're doing something right.

Seton Hall University's esports program just wrapped up a historic spring season, capturing two BIG EAST championships and sending every varsity team to national postseason play. The Pirates dominated in Rocket League and League of Legends while showing serious strength across three other games.

The Rocket League squad delivered the most dramatic finish. They battled the University of Connecticut through a nail-biting seven-game series, taking the championship 4-3 in the final game. That clutch performance earned them an automatic ticket to May Madness at the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup in Arlington, Texas, one of the biggest collegiate gaming events in North America.

Meanwhile, the League of Legends team claimed their third BIG EAST title with a 2-1 victory over St. John's University. The win puts them in the top 32 teams across North America heading into the College League of Legends national championship.

The other three teams showed up strong too. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate finished as conference runners-up after a tight championship match against St. John's. Both Overwatch and VALORANT teams placed fourth in their respective tournaments, keeping the momentum going across the entire program.

The Ripple Effect

College esports programs like Seton Hall's are changing how universities think about competition and community. These teams practice just as hard as traditional athletes, build the same teamwork skills, and now they're earning scholarship opportunities and national recognition. The fact that Seton Hall sent 100% of their varsity teams to nationals shows the depth of talent they've built.

Now all five teams head into the PlayVS Collegiate Playoffs running through early May, with Rocket League also competing at the Texas championship. Two titles down, and the Pirates are hunting for more.
