Shamrock Shakes Raise $116K for Akron Families

When Northeast Ohio residents ordered their favorite green shake this spring, they were doing more than satisfying a craving.

McDonald's restaurants across Greater Akron sold a whopping 463,093 Shamrock Shakes and OREO Shamrock McFlurries this year. That's 24% more than last year, proving the region's serious love for the seasonal treat.

But here's the sweetest part. For every shake and McFlurry sold, McDonald's donated 25 cents to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio. The charity provides temporary housing and support for families dealing with medical emergencies, including those at Akron Children's Hospital.

This year's shake sales generated $115,773.25 for the charity. That's nearly $18,000 more than last year's donation of $97,805.
