Singapore Launches Southeast Asia's First Robotaxi Service

Southeast Asia just took a major leap into the future of transportation, and it's happening on the streets of Singapore right now.

Grab, the region's leading ride-hailing company, launched Southeast Asia's first driverless taxi service on Wednesday. Working with Chinese partner WeRide, the company is putting 11 autonomous vehicles on the roads of Punggol, a neighborhood in Singapore's northeast.

The robotaxis will ferry residents along two approved routes with multiple stops, connecting them to nearby shops, restaurants, and public transport. Think of it as a self-driving shuttle system that works through the same Grab app people already use for regular rides.
