Singapore's ELLO Camera Watches Over Aging Parents at Home

Singapore-based Hello Ello just launched Vision One, an AI care camera that watches over elderly relatives and sends plain-language alerts when something goes wrong. Instead of forcing families to review hours of footage or make daily check-in calls, the system detects falls, fainting, wandering, smoke, and distress, then notifies caregivers within 60 seconds.

The timing couldn't be more critical. In Singapore, citizens aged 65 and above now make up 20.7 percent of the population and will reach one in four by 2030. Malaysia faces similar challenges, with 12 states already classified as aging societies.

"Most families do not need another camera that creates more work for them," said Ivan Mun, founder of Hello Ello. "They need something that understands when something is wrong and tells them clearly, so they can act."

The system targets what Mun calls the "sandwich generation"—adults in their 40s to 60s balancing work, their own children, and care for parents in their 80s and 90s. These caregivers often struggle with traditional solutions that require elderly parents to remember wearables or press emergency buttons during a crisis.

Vision One learns daily routines and only alerts families when activity looks unusual. Through the ELLO app, caregivers can ask questions like "Where's Dad?" or "Has Mum been up today?" without scrolling through recordings. Each evening, families receive a short summary of their loved one's day.

The 3K camera offers wide-angle view, night vision, and two-way talk. Privacy stays central to the design—only invited family members can access alerts, and the company promises never to sell user data or train AI models on what happens inside homes.
