Small Town School Honors 100+ Students at Awards Night
Eaton School brought together its entire community to celebrate students who excelled in academics, sports, and leadership. The June ceremony recognized dozens of young people who proved that success comes in many forms.
A packed auditorium at Eaton School buzzed with pride as the rural community gathered to honor its students for achievements ranging from 80 percent grade averages to championship athletics and musical excellence. More than 100 students in grades 7 through 12 received recognition during the annual Colour Night ceremony on June 18.
The academic awards highlighted impressive dedication, with 11 Grade 10 students earning honors for maintaining at least 80 percent averages. Clayton Longmuir and Elisabeth Peters topped their class with the highest marks, while Alex Becker claimed the same honor in Grade 12.
Athletic achievements took center stage as well, with awards going to students who committed to at least three sports teams throughout the year. Rihanna McKenzie earned Female Athlete of the Year, while Grady Stevens and Gared Knuttila-Mackrell shared Male Athlete of the Year honors after competing in multiple sports from football to track and field.
The school's band program also shined during the ceremony. Elisabeth Peters received a Gold Band Pin, and three students joined the prestigious 100 Point Club for their musical commitment.

Some of the evening's most touching moments came during the character awards. Dustin Becker received the Steve Mealey Award as Most Improved Student, showing that growth matters just as much as grades.
The graduating class walked away with substantial scholarship support from local businesses and organizations. Cohen Hayes collected three separate awards, including scholarships from Achieve Land and Crop Sciences and the local Rotary Club, while the Governor General Award went to Adam Becker.
The Ripple Effect
The real story of Colour Night extends beyond the trophy cases. When a small rural school recognizes more than 100 students for different types of excellence, it sends a powerful message that every young person has something valuable to contribute. The long list of local businesses and community members funding scholarships shows an entire town investing in its future, one student at a time.
Schools like Eaton prove that celebrating achievement creates more of it.
