For battery storage, insurers are still learning the patterns of when problems typically occur. With solar and wind, most issues happen during construction or at the tail end of a project's life. Batteries might follow a different pattern, but early signs look positive.
Lower insurance costs mean renewable energy projects become more financially attractive, potentially speeding up Australia's clean energy transition without adding extra expense.
