Solar EV Chargers Open Free on LA-Vegas Route

Driving between Los Angeles and Las Vegas just got a whole lot greener, thanks to four new solar-powered EV fast chargers that opened in Baker, California.

PowerStation launched the charging hub at a perfect pit stop location near Interstate 15, and they're making all charging sessions completely free until the end of May. The station features four CCS fast chargers now, with six more NACS chargers coming this summer.

Here's what makes this station special: 1,080 solar panels generate all the electricity on-site. Battery storage systems save excess power so drivers can charge 24/7, even after the sun goes down.

One driver reported charging speeds of 170 kW, though the chargers can deliver up to 360 kW for vehicles that can handle it. The upcoming NACS chargers will be even faster.

EV drivers are already excited about the addition. "So cool, I live in Vegas and travel to LA often, would be very cool to charge my Rivian with solar on the way," one commenter shared on social media.

The station joins a growing network of solar-powered charging hubs across the West, including locations in Oregon and Southern California. Each new installation makes electric road trips more practical and proves that clean transportation infrastructure is expanding rapidly.
