South Carolina Region Adds 400+ Jobs, $426M in Investment

😊 Feel Good

Nine counties in northeastern South Carolina attracted over $426 million in new industrial projects and created more than 400 jobs in 2025. The growth shows the Pee Dee region is becoming a magnet for businesses looking to expand and invest.

Northeastern South Carolina just proved it's open for business in a big way, with nine counties welcoming over $426 million in new industrial investments and 400+ jobs throughout 2025.

The wins came from 13 different company announcements across the Pee Dee region. Seven were existing businesses deciding to expand, while six were brand new companies choosing to set up shop in the area.

"These wins reinforce that our region is a great area to invest and grow," said Yancey McGill, former South Carolina lieutenant governor and chairman of the North Eastern Strategic Alliance (NESA). The nonprofit economic development group serves Chesterfield, Darlington, Dillon, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Marlboro and Williamsburg counties.

The region now employs over 340,000 people as of December 2025. That's real growth in communities that have worked hard to attract quality employers and create opportunities for residents.

The Ripple Effect

When hundreds of new jobs arrive in a region, the benefits spread far beyond the workers who fill those positions. Local restaurants see more lunch crowds, housing markets strengthen, and tax revenues grow to support schools and infrastructure.

These investments also signal confidence. When 13 different companies choose the same region within a single year, it tells other businesses that something special is happening there.

NESA made it easier for companies to say yes by creating virtual touring tools for available sites. Businesses can now explore potential locations online before ever visiting, streamlining the decision process.

McGill noted that teamwork made the difference. County economic development offices, state officials, and community leaders all pulled together to land these projects.

Looking ahead, NESA remains focused on bringing more opportunities to the region through strategic recruitment and collaboration. The momentum from 2025 sets a strong foundation for continued growth in the years ahead.
