SpaceX Chooses Louisiana for $100B Space Launch Facility

Louisiana is about to become America's newest space capital, and the timing couldn't be better for a state rediscovering its swagger.

SpaceX chose Vermilion Parish as home for its newest Starbase, a $100 billion facility expected to support thousands of rocket launches annually. The project will create 3,000 direct jobs and more than 8,100 indirect positions for engineers, welders, electricians, fabricators, and software developers.

Governor Jeff Landry says the decision didn't happen by accident. Over the past two years, Louisiana cut taxes, reduced red tape, and modernized its economic development approach to compete for major employers.

The results show a state in transformation. Louisiana has secured more than $250 billion in announced private investment recently, including Meta's massive AI data center in North Louisiana and billions in advanced manufacturing from Hyundai Steel.

The state is also cementing its position as an energy leader with three major LNG projects totaling nearly $50 billion. These investments are creating thousands of jobs while strengthening American energy security.
