Srinagar Turns Old Cars and Plastic Bottles Into Garden

Where most people see junk, Srinagar saw possibility.

The city opened its Waste to Wonder Flower Garden on August 21 at Polo View, turning discarded vehicles and plastic waste into an unexpected public attraction. Old Ambassador cars, vintage scooters, and even a bumper car now overflow with colorful flowers instead of rusting in a scrapyard.

The garden's creators filled each retired vehicle with soil and plants, transforming them into giant planters. A weathered tractor sits surrounded by blooms, and a classic jeep sprouts flowers from its hood and trunk.

Hundreds of plastic bottles got a second chance too. Garden designers arranged them into walls and structures, each one filled with greenery that brings life to what would otherwise clog landfills.

The result is more than just pretty. In a busy city space, the garden creates a spot where people naturally slow down, look around, and pull out their phones to capture something they've never seen before.
