St. Cloud Teen Carries Flag at World Cup Final

Imagine being a high school graduate and stepping onto the field at MetLife Stadium in front of millions of World Cup viewers. That's exactly what happened to Brook'Lynn H. from St. Cloud, Minnesota, who served as a flag bearer at the FIFA World Cup Final on July 19th.

The Cathedral High School graduate earned her spot on one of the world's biggest stages through dedication to her community. She's been a member of the Southside Boys & Girls Club for 12 years, and that commitment just paid off in the most spectacular way.

Brook'Lynn's journey to the World Cup started close to home. She won Youth of the Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Minnesota earlier this year. In March, she took the Minnesota state title. Then in June, she competed in Chicago and became the Midwest Region Youth of the Year.

That regional win came with an unforgettable weekend in New York. Brook'Lynn and four other regional winners got a shopping spree at the Adidas store and met professional athletes, actors, and other celebrities who grew up in Boys & Girls Clubs. The weekend culminated with her walking onto the field at the World Cup Final, one of the most-watched sporting events on the planet.

Brook'Lynn's story shows how youth programs create pathways to extraordinary experiences. Her 12 years at the club weren't just about after-school activities. They built the leadership skills and character that earned recognition at local, state, and regional levels.
