Stolen Baby Rescued in 48 Hours, Hyderabad Police Save Infant

A mother's nightmare ended with her baby back in her arms, just two days after strangers took her infant daughter in the night.

Navaneetha's six-month-old baby was sleeping beside her on a footpath near Narayana Mallareddy Hospital in Hyderabad when she was taken at 2 a.m. on May 4. The terrified mother immediately contacted police, setting off an urgent search.

Suraram police assembled four special teams and got to work immediately. Within 48 hours, they'd analyzed security camera footage, tracked down the suspects, and brought the baby home safely.

The investigation revealed a heartbreaking motive behind the crime. Sridevi, a 35-year-old woman, planned the kidnapping to help her sister-in-law, who desperately wanted a child but couldn't conceive.

She recruited four others who worked with her in the catering business to help carry out the plan. The group scouted the hospital area on May 3, then returned that night to target vulnerable families sleeping outside.

Two members of the group took the infant while her mother slept and escaped on a motorcycle. But their plan unraveled quickly as police pieced together evidence.

Officers tracked the suspects to a function hall in Rajendranagar on the night of May 5. All five were arrested, including Sridevi, two young men aged 18 and 24, and two teenagers.
