Renewable Power Accelerator is betting big on electric trucks, and Europe's freight industry might never be the same.

The Sweden-based company, originally called Solar Power Accelerator, just announced a complete business transformation after only three years in operation. Founded in early 2023 to install rooftop solar panels on commercial buildings, the firm noticed something important: the real opportunity wasn't on rooftops, but on highways.

Now rebranded as RPX, the company delivers renewable energy directly to charging stations for electric heavy-duty trucks. They're combining solar and wind power with smart technology to solve a problem that's kept many freight companies from going electric: reliable, affordable charging infrastructure.

The transformation wasn't planned from the start. Declining demand for commercial rooftop solar in late 2024 forced the company to rethink its mission entirely. Instead of seeing it as a setback, they spotted a gap in the market that needed filling.

RPX's solution goes beyond simple charging stations. They build onsite microgrids with battery storage, balance power loads to prevent grid strain, and use AI software to optimize everything from navigation planning to energy pricing. Their Battery-as-a-Service model means truck operators don't need massive upfront investments to go electric.

The company is already developing projects across five European markets: the Nordic countries, the UK, Spain, and Poland. They're currently raising funds to expand even further across the continent.

The Ripple Effect

This pivot arrives at a critical moment for European climate goals. Heavy-duty trucks account for a huge portion of transportation emissions, but electrifying them requires more than just building better vehicles. Without reliable renewable charging infrastructure, electric trucks remain impractical for long-haul routes.

RPX's microgrids also help stabilize local power systems by storing excess renewable energy and releasing it when demand peaks. That means cleaner trucks and a more resilient energy grid working together.
