Swiss Man Soars 92 Feet in Record-Breaking Blobbing Stunt

Robin Steiner flew 92.58 feet into the air above a Swiss lake, breaking a world record that stood for 12 years and proving that some childhood dreams just need the right team to make them reality.

On August 9 in Brunnen, Schwyz, three athletes launched Steiner from a massive airbag floating on the water. Swiss jumper Luc Siegenthaler, German Lennart Florczak, and American Tristan Kuhn coordinated their jump perfectly, creating enough force to send Steiner soaring nearly as high as a 10-story building.

The sport, called "blobbing," works like a water-based seesaw. Jumpers leap onto one end of an inflated airbag while someone sits on the other end, launching them skyward. Think of it as a pool toy meets catapult.

Steiner first tried blobbing four years ago at an event hosted by Paintball Farm, a Swiss adventure experience company. Adrian Baumann, from Paintball Farm, immediately noticed Steiner's natural talent for the unusual sport.

"Robin first came to one of our events around four years ago and had a go at being launched from the blob," Baumann told Guinness World Records. "He immediately loved it, and we quickly realized that he had an exceptional talent for it."

Steiner kept coming back to practice, becoming a regular at blobbing events. His dedication and Baumann's encouragement eventually sparked the idea to attempt a world record together.

The previous record of 72 feet and 2.14 inches was set in 2012. Steiner's jump shattered that mark by more than 20 feet, a massive leap forward for the niche sport.
