Students who've overcome serious injuries now have a new way to fund their education while sharing their powerful stories of recovery.

Distasio Law Firm in Tampa created The Voices of Resilience scholarship to support injury survivors pursuing college or graduate school. The $2,500 award recognizes students whose lives changed because of accidents, medical errors, or negligence, and who moved forward with strength and purpose.

The application process is refreshingly simple. Students record a 3 to 5 minute video on their phone or webcam sharing how their injury affected their life, what challenges they faced, and how the experience shaped their goals. No professional production needed, just an honest story told in their own voice.

The firm wants to understand how these life-changing experiences influenced educational paths and future aspirations. Many applicants may be pursuing careers in healthcare, law, advocacy, safety awareness, or community service inspired by what they've been through.

High school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate students can all apply. They just need to be enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited U.S. school. The deadline is September 15, 2026, and the winner will be announced within one to three months after that.

Applicants upload their video to YouTube as an unlisted link and submit it through the scholarship application form. They'll also need to provide documentation like medical records or a physician's note confirming the injury discussed.
