Teacher's Son Scores Top 5 in India's Toughest Exam

While most teenagers stress about college entrance exams, Arnav Gautam walked into India's JEE Main test and scored 295 out of 300 in his very first attempt, landing him All India Rank 5 among millions of test-takers.

The Rajasthan student comes from a family of educators, both parents teaching humanities subjects in schools. His father teaches geography, and his mother works at a government school.

Despite having no engineering background at home, Arnav decided early in school that he wanted to become an engineer. He pursued that dream with discipline, scoring 95.8 percent in his Class 10 exams before heading to coaching in Kota, a city famous for its intense exam preparation programs.

Arnav credits a smart exam strategy for his exceptional result. He tackled Chemistry first, then Physics, and saved Math for last. His careful time management left him extra minutes at the end to review everything, catching small mistakes that could have cost him points.
