Tech Firm Creates 1,200 UK Jobs in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham

Three UK cities are getting a major economic boost as a tech giant commits to creating 1,200 new jobs over the next three to five years.

Hexaware Technologies, a global IT solutions provider, announced a £25 million investment to expand operations across Leeds, Manchester, and Birmingham. The company revealed its plans at the G7 Summit in June 2026 as part of the UK government's AI and clean energy agenda.

The investment will bring cutting-edge technology centers to all three cities. Birmingham will see an expanded delivery center, while Leeds and Manchester will each get brand new research and development facilities focused on artificial intelligence, digital services, and quantum computing.

R Srikrishna, CEO of Hexaware, emphasized the company's commitment to developing local talent and modernizing public services. "We have very high ambitions for our growth, creating impact in the UK," he said, highlighting the focus on young talent and collaboration with government at all levels.

The company has worked with UK businesses for more than three decades, but this expansion represents its largest UK commitment yet. Britain is now Hexaware's second-largest global market and its fastest-growing region.

Parameshwaran Iyer, who leads UK and European operations, explained why the company chose to invest locally rather than overseas. "Our UK clients are moving fast on AI, and having research and delivery talent on the ground here means we can build with them rather than for them," he said.

The investment goes beyond just job numbers. By establishing research centers in Leeds and Manchester alongside Birmingham's expanded operations, Hexaware is spreading opportunity across multiple regions rather than concentrating growth in one location.
