Teen Lifeguard Never Let Go During Wave Rescue

A California teenager held onto a drowning child through wave after wave, his arms locked tight even when the ocean tried to tear them apart.

Ryder, a 16-year-old lifeguard at Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, was working a normal summer shift when a sneaker wave suddenly overwhelmed a 10-year-old boy playing near the surf. The powerful current dragged the child farther from shore with each second.
