Thousands Run for HIV Awareness in Uganda's Kabaka Race

Residents across Mawogola County in Uganda laced up their running shoes for the annual Kabaka Birthday Run, turning a royal celebration into a powerful movement against HIV/AIDS. The event honors Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II while rallying communities around critical health issues.

The run drew participants from across Sembabule District, all united by a single mission: combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic through awareness and education. Godfrey Ssenkungu, representing the regional chief, kicked off the event with praise for the Kabaka's dedication to improving community health and protecting vulnerable populations.

Jane Francis Kaggayi, the district's Resident Commissioner and chief runner, highlighted both progress and ongoing challenges. While commending the royal initiative's impact, she urged residents to stay vigilant as infection rates continue rising in the area.
