Three Baseball Legends Inducted Into Hall of Fame

Three baseball stars who thrilled fans for decades officially became legends this weekend when they joined the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Carlos Beltrán, Andruw Jones, and Jeff Kent received baseball's highest honor at a ceremony attended by a record 61 Hall of Fame players. The gathering included legends from Sandy Koufax to last year's inductees Ichiro Suzuki and CC Sabathia.

Beltrán, the sixth Puerto Rican player elected to the Hall, brought 150 family members and friends from the island to celebrate. He started his path to Cooperstown in 1998 when Royals legend George Brett introduced the rookie to Orlando Cepeda as "the next Hall of Famer from Puerto Rico."

Twenty-seven years later, Brett's prediction came true. Beltrán's career included unforgettable playoff performances, including an incredible 2004 postseason where he hit eight home runs in just 12 games.

Jones made history as the first player from Curaçao inducted into the Hall. The center fielder, who recently managed his home country's team in the World Baseball Classic, said baseball has been his life.

He's proud to put his 171-square-mile island nation on the map once again. Jones and Beltrán became only the third and fourth center fielders elected by baseball writers in nearly 50 years.

Kent, voted in by the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee, earned his place as the most powerful hitting second baseman in baseball history. He's the first second baseman inducted since Craig Biggio in 2015.
