Tim Tebow Urges Congress to Pass Child Protection Bill

Tim Tebow traded the football field for Capitol Hill this week, bringing an urgent message to lawmakers: tens of thousands of children are waiting to be rescued, and Congress can help save them.

The former NFL quarterback and humanitarian testified before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Tuesday, pushing for the Renewed Hope Act of 2026. The bipartisan bill would create a dedicated team of over 200 analysts, investigators, and forensic specialists within Homeland Security to coordinate child exploitation investigations nationwide.

The numbers tell a heartbreaking story. An estimated 57,000 unidentified children remain trapped in exploitation databases, hidden from official protection systems. In just the last six months, more than 338,000 unique U.S. addresses have been caught trading child abuse images online.

"Every day, these children are praying that we are going to respond," Tebow told the committee. "It is a thin line between tortured and treasured, and you are that thin line."

Through his Tim Tebow Foundation, the former athlete already supports 52 safe homes for trafficking survivors, with 19 more in development. But he emphasized that rescue is only the beginning. The foundation funds long-term restoration programs and provides critical support to law enforcement working these cases.

The proposed legislation would specially train officers in victim identification, location tracking, and rescue operations. It passed House committee review earlier this year and now has backing from senators across party lines.

Senator Josh Hawley, the Missouri Republican who chairs the subcommittee, called child trafficking a "scourge" on society. He convened the hearing to expose how young people are groomed and exploited while falling through cracks in the current system.

"I spent way too much of my life chasing a much less important MVP," he admitted to lawmakers. "I want to spend the rest of my life chasing the most vulnerable people."
