Tire Company Removes 100+ Pounds of Trash from Seal Beach

A tire company and ocean conservation group just proved that corporate partnerships can create real environmental change, one beach cleanup at a time.

Yokohama Tire joined forces with Surfrider Foundation's North Orange County chapter to remove over 100 pounds of unsafe debris from Seal Beach. Volunteers filled dozens of trash bags with litter that threatened the Southern California shoreline.

The cleanup represents the latest project in a three-year partnership between the tire manufacturer and the nonprofit organization. The collaboration is part of Yokohama's "Caring for our Communities" program, which focuses on environmental protection across multiple California locations.

"It's been truly gratifying being a part of Surfrider Foundation's North OC Chapter's ongoing work to protect the environment, especially the beaches and oceans," said Alan Holtschneider, Yokohama's senior director of marketing. The company has volunteered on numerous projects with the ocean conservation group.

The Ripple Effect

The partnership extends far beyond beach cleanups. Yokohama supports Surfrider's North OC Chapter by providing student club memberships, water quality testing kits, cigarette butt collection canisters, and replacement equipment for harbor cleanups.

These tools help Surfrider work toward its mission of protecting the world's oceans, waves, and beaches for everyone to enjoy. The sustained support allows the nonprofit to expand its impact across Orange County's coastline.

"We really appreciate all the help Yokohama Tire has given us over the years," said George Manyak, longtime event coordinator for Surfrider Foundation North Orange County Chapter. The partnership has made a major impact on keeping local beaches clean and safe for visitors.

Yokohama's environmental work also includes partnerships with Tread Lightly! and California State Parks Foundation. Together, these efforts protect California's natural spaces while showing how businesses can build genuine community connections through environmental action.
